Western Canada is the geographical concept of Canada, and is usually called the western province or directly called the west. Contains the four provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba in western Ontario. Western Canada can be subdivided according to different standards. Usually the latter three provinces form the three grassland provinces; British Columbia is usually called the Pacific province; British Columbia and Alberta are collectively called the mountain provinces. The main cities in Western Canada are Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. According to the 2011 Canadian population statistics, Western Canada has a total population of more than 10 million.
